Underground electric & fiber utility contractor insurance

Fiber and underground electric builds move fast, rely heavily on subcontractors, and run through yards, easements and rights-of-way full of other people's utilities. One cut line can mean an outage claim far larger than the repair.

Exposures we plan around

Frequently asked questions

What limits do broadband prime contractors require?

Requirements vary by prime and project, but $1 million per occurrence general liability with a $5 million or larger umbrella is common, along with additional insured and waiver of subrogation endorsements. Send us the subcontract and we will check it.

How should I manage subcontractor insurance?

Collect certificates before work starts, confirm your company is named as additional insured, and track expirations. Uninsured subs can be charged back to you at workers' comp and GL audit.

Is my fiber equipment covered on the job?

Only if it is scheduled on an inland marine or equipment policy. Splicing trailers and fusion splicers are high-value and frequently stolen, so they should be listed individually.
