Home / Industries / Bridge rehabilitation & structural concrete

Bridge rehabilitation & structural concrete contractor insurance

Bridge rehabilitation and structural concrete work combines height, water, cranes and existing structures you are responsible for while you work on them. Standard contractor policies often leave gaps in exactly those places.

Our approach

We place bridge contractor insurance that addresses care, custody and control of existing structures, railroad protective requirements on overpasses, and federal coverage for work over navigable water.

Exposures we plan around

  • Falls from height and work over water
  • Crane, rigging, shoring and falsework failures
  • Damage to the existing structure you are repairing
  • Railroad right-of-way requirements on overpass projects
  • Long-tail structural defect claims after completion

Coverage in a typical program

Frequently asked questions

Do I need USL&H coverage for bridge work?

If your crews work on or over navigable waters, they may fall under the federal Longshore and Harbor Workers' Compensation Act rather than state workers' comp. A USL&H endorsement closes that gap.

What is railroad protective liability?

Railroads usually require contractors working on or near their property to buy a separate policy that protects the railroad. We arrange it to the railroad's form and limits so the job is not held up.

Can you handle wrap-up (OCIP or CCIP) projects?

Yes. We review the wrap-up manual, identify what the owner's program covers and what it excludes, and adjust your own policies so you are not paying twice or left uncovered.
